Artem Barkov
Computer engineering student at the Politecnico di Bari. I run my own Linux server at home and I'm looking for IT support or junior sysadmin work, full- or part-time, in Bari or remote.
The server behind this page
Since 2019 I've run a small home server, now a Raspberry Pi 5 on Debian. It hosts the services I use every day and is the place where I learn system administration by doing it. This is how traffic reaches it.
Public web traffic
- Browser on the internet
- Personal domaindynamic DNS keeps it pointed at my home connection
- Firewallufw, only the web and VPN ports open
- Nginx reverse proxyHTTPS in front of every service

My own devices
- Laptop or phone
- WireGuard VPNthe only way in for administration
- DNSBlocky filters unwanted domains, Unbound resolves recursively
- SSHnot exposed to the internet at all
Raspberry Pi 5, Debian 12
two 2 TB drives in RAID 1, services managed with systemd, automated backups
Things I set up and maintain
- Remote administration only through the VPN, so SSH never faces the internet.
- Network-wide DNS filtering for every device connected to the VPN.
- A Minecraft server for friends, run as a systemd service with backups every six hours and rotation. Other people reach its files through SFTP in a chroot jail with TOTP two-factor login.
- A self-hosted Git server (Forgejo) where my configuration files and projects live.
Other projects
- Modified 3D printer
- An Ender 3 Pro rebuilt around a BTT SKR Mini E3 v3 board running Klipper, with a Raspberry Pi 4 host and the Mainsail web interface. I converted the extruder to direct drive myself and added a BLTouch bed-leveling sensor.
- Linux workstation
- Arch Linux with Hyprland and a Neovim setup I configured from scratch, kept in a dotfiles repository managed with GNU Stow. The system uses btrfs snapshots that can be rolled back from the boot menu, on a ThinkPad flashed with open-source coreboot firmware.
